It is funny because I read this a week before my boyfriend proposed. When I read this I must admit I did think about how sweet and special I wanted my proposal to be. Let me tell you he exceeded my expetations!

We took a trip to New York City for my Aunt’s and Uncle’s 25th anniversary. We went walking around Central Park and there in the fountain he got on one knee and said “Katherine, will you marry me?”

It was the best!

I tried to make things easiest on myself. Wedding in Vegas- last minute planning, they do a lot right there that I would other wise have to contract (music, video, minister, flowers), and easy flights and hotel rooms for guests.

I also told my bridesmaids to wear a dress they like, that maybe they already own, I just wanted something in a particular color.

We did get lucky in that my mother-in-law had a house in Henderson that she volunteered for the reception. We did a casual reception, with burgers, hot dogs, beer, wine coolers, and some champagne for toasting.

Not for everyone, but it sure suited us.

I say don’t forget to stay true to yourselves. When you start to plan a wedding, you don’t realize how many people will give you their unasked for or unwanted thoughts or opinions or how many people won’t be happy with the decisions you’re making about your wedding. Use little touches that remind you of who you are and what you like – theme it to your interests and forget about those who don’t like it (or understand!!)
